Roanoke, VAARCADIS was the construction administrator for the construction of this award winning water treatment plant to treat 5 mgd with a microfiltration membrane. U.S. Filter's Continuous Microfiltration System (CMF), which consists of five microfiltration units and ancillary equipment, was pre-selected by the city of Roanoke. The brick and block masonry building that houses the treatment plant equipment also provides office space for the city's Utility and Water Departments. In addition, the project included site work for the facility, with a below ground raw water pumping station, parking lot and utilities. In the midst of the project, ARCADIS assisted the city by installing a temporary filtration system to allow the plant to filter water during the completion of the permanent system, thus providing 3 million gallons of much needed water a day to a drought stricken Roanoke. ARCADIS managed the installation and the operation of the temporary system during the four months it was used. The project was completed on schedule and on budget.
