Main Street Bridge Replacement
|
|
Spanning Nimishillen Creek, the Main Street Bridge was replaced in 2001 at a construction cost of $870,000. Designed by ARCADIS, the new three-span 209-foot bridge has a curved rolled beam superstructure with a composite concrete deck supported on stub abutments on piling and T-type piers on piling. The new bridge replaced a three-span earth-filled concrete arch structure. The roadway leading to the bridge was realigned to eliminate a sharp curve at one end of the bridge, which necessitated a curved alignment on the bridge. The location of the new abutments and piers were selected to avoid a large group of piling at each existing abutment and pier.
