Jacksonville, FLIn an effort to bring the employees of seven Jacksonville-based Barnett Bank subsidiaries together in one place, the statewide banking organization created the Barnett Bank Office Park.
The 90-acre office center, located on Jacksonville's southside, houses most of Barnett's non-banking operations, and is home to about 2,500 Barnett employees. The complex consists of one ten-story, two two-story, and four five story office buildings; a four-story parking structure; a maintenance/warehouse building; and a child-care facility carefully sited to minimize disturbance of adjacent wetlands. The complex is a focal point that encourages employees of the different Barnett subsidiaries to mix and mingle.
ARCADIS was responsible for acquiring the necessary permits for the project, designing its utilities, paving and drainage, site surveying, and construction administration.
The firm's surveying services included topographical, vertical and horizontal control, foundation, and road alignment surveys; jurisdictional surveys to establish wetlands areas; mapping; staking for construction; field verification of critical points; and working with title companies and attorneys to provide legal documents. Coordinate geometry was calculated for the entire site.
The utility system designed by ARCADIS included a 12-inch watermain loop, fire protection line, multiple master meters, back-flow preventers, eight-inch gravity sewers, and a sewage pump station which serves the Barnett complex as well as adjacent off-site commercial development.
