ARCADIS provided program management services for the construction of the Orange Water and Sewer Authority's (OWASA) new $6 million Operations Center. The 36,500 square foot building will house administrative offices, storage space and vehicle maintenance facilities. The building is being designed to meet OWASA's main objective for the building — making the new Operations Center environmentally sensitive and neighborhood friendly. The building will sit in a residential area where there are concerns about the round-the-clock nature of OWASA's work. The design will address noise, lighting and sustainability issues and will be built to meet standards for "green" building projects. Other strategies being used in the building include stormwater runoff that will be diverted to a retention pond that will trap sedimentation; flow-restricting water fixtures with infrared controls reducing the amount of water used; high efficiency air conditioning system; and a contractor requirement to recycle 75% of construction waste.
