ARCADIS assisted a major chemical manufacturer by recommending and successfully negotiating an innovative remedy to remediate toluene and tetrahydrofuran (THF) impacts in groundwater. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, State Remediation Program (TDEC-SRP) and the Memphis-Shelby County Groundwater Quality Board
(MSCGWQB) provided approval to conduct a pilot application of in-situ oxidation via potassium permanganate this marks the first application of in-situ oxidation permitted by the MSCGWQB.
ARCADIS subsequently designed and implemented a study to determine the effectiveness of the in-situ oxidation technology in remediating the constituents and protecting the Memphis Sand Drinking Water Aquifer.
