St. Vincent-St. Mary Catholic High School Master Plan

Akron, OH

St. Vincent-St. Mary, one of Akron's oldest and most respected Catholic High Schools, moved into their existing facility in 1972. Since then, their need for additional educational, athletic, fine arts, and extra curricular space has compelled them to develop a master plan, which would guide the school in improving both the quality of education and the quality of facilities to match their reputation for academic excellence.

ARCADIS was retained to develop a comprehensive master plan and perform architectural and engineering services with respect to programming and the development of incremental projects leading up to the completion of the master plan.

The master plan needs of St. Vincent-St. Mary were both unique and extensive. Aspects of the plan included the complete reconfiguration of all interior academic classrooms and support areas. Additions will include a student center, gymnasium, possible performing arts center, and additional classrooms for current needs and to accommodate
future growth.

The reorientation and development of many site functions, including entry identification, parking, and athletic fields, were of paramount importance. A key element of the master plan included the renovation of the existing facades to establish a sense of arrival that was lacking at the school's existing location. The new building façade will be community orientated and an integral part of the Akron skyline.

ARCADIS also provided assistance with various fundraising events to finance this important project.
