Scott is an expert at Operational Human Excellence.  Operational Human Excellence is the integration of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and ergonomic principles into high performing organizations.  Scott's expertise and experience has resulted in significant improvements for his clients in overall plant operation efficiency, reduced production times, reduced manufacturing costs and significant positive impacts on employee health and safety.  All of this adds unique opportunities for Arcadis clients to increase their profitability.

He has applied his Operational Human Excellence expertise to both global and small-fast-growing domestic companies.  He has also provided his expertise to public sector organizations to reduce their costs and provide more value to rate and/or tax payers.

"Bringing Scott on board allows ARCADIS to continue its long-tradition of helping our global and domestic clients reduce costs and improve profitability," said Janet Peters, Vice President for ARCADIS.   "Scott's arrival at ARCADIS is particularly timely as the global economy is faced with economic uncertainty.  Scott's expertise will allow our clients to improve their competitive position in these turbulent times in which top line growth may be limited.  I am very excited to be working with such a dynamic business leader."

Smith has 17 years experience in ergonomics working with various large and mid-size companies and consultancies.  His most recent position was as Global Ergonomics Practice Leader with Environmental & Occupational Risk Management where he developed, executed, and managed the comprehensive integration of ergonomics and human performance for clients with manufacturing sites located globally. He previously served as VP of Western Operations for Humantech and prior to that assignment was a Corporate Ergonomist for Tyco Healthcare.

Smith earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1991 and is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
