ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consulting and engineering company, today announced that it received top honors in the Environmental Business Journal 2008 Business Achievement Awards. ARCADIS received the Gold Medal in the category of Mergers & Acquisitions, as well as a Project Merit Award in the category of Remediation and Restoration.

The Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) is the leading business newsletter for the environmental industry. Annually, the periodical awards Business Achievement Awards to companies exemplifying strong business performance. The award winners were determined by a committee of EBJ staff and editorial advisory board members. The 2008 awards will be presented in a special ceremony at EBJ's Environmental Industry Summit VII in Coronado, Calif. on the evening of February 20, 2009.

In the details of the Gold Medal, the Journal writes that ARCADIS received the award "for its acquisition of LFR, Inc. and for undertaking a major reorganization prompted by its 2005 acquisition of [BBL], an addition of ARCADIS' environmental practice." The announcement goes on to say that "ARCADIS conducted an organizational design and operational analysis to leverage the combined strengths of the two organizations."

ARCADIS received the Project Merit Award for the application of its patented Enhanced-Reductive Dechlorination process in conjunction with its Guaranteed Remediation Program (GRiP®) contract offering to facilitate remediation, regulatory closure, and redevelopment of the Crestwood Brownfield site (a former shopping center) in Glendale, Wisconsin.
