ARCADIS Receives Finalist Global Diamond Award from BP

Highlands Ranch, Colo. – May 10, 2007 – ARCADIS (NASDAQ: ARCAF, EURONEXT: ARCAD) the international consulting and engineering company, has been awarded with the Finalist Global Diamond Award from BP/Atlantic Richfield Company (BP/ARCO). The award, which recognized only two firms worldwide this year, recognizes ARCADIS’ Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Leadership, Innovation and Sub-contractor Management on BP/ARCO projects.

“I am honored to accept this prestigious award from BP/ARCO,” stated Ed Lynch, president, ARCADIS BBL. “With our continued commitment to safety excellence, leadership and project delivery we will continue to provide superior service to clients in 2007 and beyond.”

ARCADIS assisted BP/ARCO with dismantling and underwater sampling associated with the artificial reef of the Bird Island Project, which is located off the southern California coast. The award recognizes ARCADIS’ excellent safety record: no incidents were recorded over the course of approximately 7,000 field hours, 1,000 miles of vehicle operation and 136 dives totaling more than 75 underwater man hours. BP/ARCO identified this underwater work as one its most hazardous projects for 2006.

“Due to the complex nature of this project, we worked extremely hard to maintain the high level of safety required to complete each milestone in the project,” said Dr. Paul Krause, senior project ecologist. “We take great pride in providing our clients with top-notch scientific solutions for even the most complex and highly detailed projects.”
To become a member of the ARCADIS dedicated dive team members must have safely completed a minimum of 200 scientific dives to meet the safety requirement. The average number of dives for the team exceeds 500. To safely conduct the project objectives the team undertook rigorous safety training with ARCADIS and in concert with BP/ARCO for this project to ensure the safety execution of the project to ensure their own safety and to protect environment.

The Remediation Management unit of BP/ARCO solicits nominations for this award from its Environmental Business Managers on a worldwide basis.  Nominations were received from the US, Europe, Africa, and Asia and reviewed by both BP/ARCO HSSE management, and an outside auditing firm. The winning firms were selected based on their ability to demonstrate a comprehensive safety culture that encompasses on-site safety, subcontractor safety management, a corporate commitment to safety, and performance.
